Starting in January of 2003, the Muscle & Integrity Men's Class filled a niche for a dozen men who were looking for a connection point at Bear Valley Church. What began as a six week book discussion of Wild at Heart by John Eldredge (we finished in a mere 6 months) turned into a permanent class for men.
After a couple of bowling nights that all BVC men were invited to, we decided to have a men's praise service in October of 2003, at that time changing the name to Muscle & Integrity Men's Ministries. We wanted all men to be a part of men's ministries without thinking they had to come to the class.
Building on the foundation laid by men like Dave Snyder, Jerry Graber, Sean Hearrell, Howie James and Bruce Stutheit, the next step was to put on a men's retreat, one year after starting the men's class.
After three retreats, about 8 praise services and dozens of bowling nights, movie nights, and much more, we decided it was important to further distinguish the men's class from men's ministries. In February of 2007, the class name was changed to Man Alive! and will soon be celebrating 5 years together.
